I've compiled some of my favorite products ($15 and under) to stay organized at home. No particular order, all products are rock stars!!! #1 Acrylic Letter Sorter Check out this 5 section letter sorter from The Container Store. At just $6, you will find this item in the Office section! They also make a 7 section organizer for $10. You can get an organizer that is slightly longer (9 section) and taller for $8 here on Amazon. #2 Compact Organizer Keep all those naughty circula
Some people are able to drift effortlessly in and out of tour life with very little mental or physical stress. I was not one of those people. Despite having been a free spirit/going wherever the jobs take me person for my entire post-college career, I had a very rough transition from tour to civilian life.
I want to be clear that while on tour, I did have meaningful interactions with close friends and unforgettable experiences on many occassions. Unfortunately, none o
It was not that long ago that I was working long ass days. Load in’s and load out’s, travel days, running on very little food or sleep, dealing with surly locals and not the best accommodations. I would come back to my AirBnB and faceplant into my “bed”, sometimes without changing clothes. I. Was. Pooped. I’m sure you can relate. Even if you aren’t living on the road, the struggle is real.
So, how can we stay productive while we have such demanding schedules?
Artists are actually pretty damn organized when it comes to their craft. Especially those working in Production. I mean, a Stage Manager is essentially a Professional Organizer who works longer hours and has way more knowledge about Equity rules. Respect. File Folds are the folds you saw that tiny adorable woman (Marie Kondo of the KonMari Method) teach people on Netflix's "Tidying Up". If you haven't seen it yet, please see this trailer.
I have to hand it to Netflix, releasing that show on January 1st, 2019 was brilliant. They got us hook, line and sinker. They KNOW that people naturally want to declutter to start their new year off right. Especially after 2018: May it die a slow and painful
Packing Cubes saved me more time than any productivity trick I've learned. Whether you file fold, shove clothes in there, or put loose items like cords and chargers, packing cubes are there to support you and help you gain time back into your day. I love packing cubes so much that after I got off tour, I still find a use for them almost every day. Seriously. Anytime I travel, I use one small packing cube in my purse to carry my travel toiletries. I throw the cube into the bin
Fourth Wall: (noun) a performance convention in which an invisible wall separates the performers from the audience. Welcome, to Fourth Wall! I'm Tricia. I'm organized, love drinking wine and I make jokes when I'm uncomfortable. I started this blog about Organizing for Artists because I wanted to put helpful tour life information out into the ether. I like providing resources to others when they need help, so if I cannot find a resource, I wanted to be the one to create it. He
